About the Teacher Quality Panel
The TQP is a joint panel composed of three teachers (elected by Association of Portsmouth Teachers vote) representing the three grade spans (PK-5; 6-8 and 9-12) and three administrators representing the three levels appointed by the association and the school board. The Assistant Superintendent acts as the facilitator of the TQP.
The TQP is tasked with these responsibilities:
(1) The TQP is responsible for organizing and implementing a system-wide self-evaluation system. It is responsible for establishing criteria for evidence used in self-evaluations based on Danielson’s framework.
(2) The TQP is responsible for establishing staff training to strengthen peer feedback.
(3) The TQP will create a process to evaluate candidates for Mentor Teacher and establish criteria for valid evidence to be used in demonstrating continuous growth and effective teaching. The TQP will review evidence against Danielson’s domains and make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent. Teachers judged “distinguished“ in all of Danielson’s domains will earn Model Teacher status.
