Step 1
Applicant completes and submits Intention to Apply for PSD Mentor Teacher. Central Office confirms eligibility and notifies TQP.
Step 2
Teacher Quality Panel will review pending intentions at their subsequent meeting, send confirmation email and link to appropriate Mentor Teacher Scoring Rubric as well as the appropriate Mentor Teacher Planning Tool, which teachers may utilize to organize their submission. Applicants are always welcome to review these materials in advance on the Teacher Quality Panel site.
Step 3
Applicant shares website or complete folder of electronic artifacts with TQP@sau52.org. Folder should be labeled with applicant's full name. Please identify Choice components where necessary. If organized in folders, there should be sub-folders within main folder organized and labeled by the four domains.
Step 4
Teacher Quality Panel screens submissions to determine if they are complete and feeds back to staff if necessary.
Step 5
Teacher Quality Panel evaluates submitted evidence. If fifteen or more of the components are tentatively determined to meet that component's benchmark an observation will be scheduled. Following the observation the team will convene to hear observation report and update the scoring rubric. The team will request an interview with any applicant demonstrating benchmark evidence for 18/22 components.
Step 6
Applicant interview. TQP will determine if additional evidence is needed to make determination.
Step 7
TQP makes Mentor Teacher recommendation to Assistant Superintendent. Applicant is notified within seven days of determination. Applicant is provided with written feedback from the committee on each component. If the team determines the applicant did not evidence all of the Mentor Teacher criteria, the applicant may re-submit in the following submission window.
Mentor Teacher Submission Window
Not later than the third Friday in December. For successful applicants, Mentor Teacher payout will be retroactive to the first pay period of the contract year.
For teachers re-submitting/revising applications beyond the December deadline, the team will review applications as they are submitted and successful applicants will receive a contract adjustment in the first pay period of the following contractual year..
